Sunday Ride Report 5th June 2016
The moderate and easy pace groups combined last Sunday as many of the regulars were travelling down to France for the annual club holiday. Five members set of from Cottingham Green, scooping up Liz on Harland way, and on to Beechwood via Newbald, where Tracey joined and Mike left us. A large pothole just outside Newbald on a tight bend was photographed and reported to East Riding Council via the 'Fill that Hole' app.
Our destination for lunch was to be the World Peace Cafe at Kilnwick Percy which was reached via the quiet lanes to Pocklington. On arrival we discovered that the cafe was closed for renovation and the construction of a conservatory – a helpful monk directed us into the main hall where the usual fare was on offer including an excellent soup. It was a joy sitting outside in the sun in such a peaceful setting.
It was soon time to tackle the climb out of Millington dale to be rewarded by a nice freewheel to Huggate and to Etton for rehydration at the Light Dragoon. A nice 60 mile sunny ride with little wind.
