National Bike Week Thursday Ride 13/06/19
Thursday’s Ride – National Bike Week
While some parts of the country where experiencing floods, this time we missed the bulk of the really bad storms! Plenty of rain, but in moderation!
Thursday’s forecast was light winds, low cloud and showers, not a good outlook for a special ride I’d planned for National Bike Week, trying to encourage Members to do at least one ride this week!
I set off in full waterproof kit, neighbours thought I was mad, but I’d missed nearly two months off the bike, feeling sorry for myself, due an incident with a horse! I was cycling today whatever the weather!
Eight turned out on this wet rainy day, (four in car). Our first stop was Sails Café Skidby, a mere few hundred yards from the meeting spot! Waiting for the sun that never came!
After a catch up on all the gossip and the rain had eased a little, we moved on to The Community Café in Cherry Burton, a first for most of us. I’d recommend this venue, pity it’s only opens on Thursdays and Fridays.
More chat over soup and a sandwich, it was now time to say our goodbyes and brave the puddles!
I only did 20 miles, enough in the weather conditions, and my slow recovery from the accident, but we’d all made the effort and felt better for it!
NB. To make these rides work, either on a Thursday or a Sunday, we need your involvement. Please say where you want to go, any new cafés you may come across and, can you lead a ride? Just one every month or so will help. It’s your Club as well. We need your input! Thanks
