Ride to Hutton Cranswick – The Best Day of the Year
About 30 riders turned up at our new starting venue Ings Lane Dunswell, seven of us set off on the “Brisk Group” ride to Hutton Cranswick. We followed the cycle tracks as far as Asda but as Sheila was not with us to act as our guide, we were unable to navigate through all the footpaths, playing fields, underpasses etc through Wawne & simply rode along the road.
The wind was quite strong so we were glad of the height of Jeffrey & the width of Chris to shelter us. As we passed East of Leven, some of us expected our leader Chris to call in at the cafe at Sigglesthorne in order to indulge in his hobby of eating cakes & drinking coffee. This was not to be.
We continued through Brandesburton, North Frodingham & Wansford reaching the garden centre at Hutton Cranswick for an early lunch. The garden centre cafe seemed to be filled by cyclists including Tracey & John Duncan. We enjoyed lunch in the well heated cafe & Chris was able to indulge himself with coffee & a large slice of fattening cake.
After lunch we returned home on the west side, resisting the temptation to ride down the recently resurfaced Bracken road but going through Bainton then Middleton, North Dalton & Etton.
Certainly a good day with no “mechanicals” & no rain.
