Thursday’s round the river ride was completed by 8 of us. Leaving the HBCP at 9.30 on a warm but very dull morning, we passed through Barton, Winterton, Thealby before stopping at the Flixborough cafe, which offers a range hot & cold snacks. I can reccomend the small cooked breakfast with fried bread !!. Quite a lot of HGV’s on the way to Gunness & Keadby bridge, but we did find a cycle path over the bridge. Quieter through Amctts, Fockerby (careful with that one !). Alan showed us the church clock in Whitgift with 13 at the top, instead of 12 and we watched a few ships heading for the river Humber.
Then into Goole to the West Park community centre cafe. Nice comfortable surroundings, away from the main roads and a reasonable selection of hot & cold food / drinks.
From Goole, over Boothferry bridge, Howden & through Blacktoft, with the usual greetings from Milo.
Broomfleet, Ellecker, Elloughton & back to the HBCP. From & back to the HBCP was 66miles .
Quite a few of the group did more than that, as they cycled to the bridge, Sheila recorded an impressive 86 miles for the day !!.
